Why you should watch: This is without a doubt the definition of an epic science fiction movie, much like "Ben Hur" or "Spartacus" were massive masterpieces of truly epic proportions, this is the sci-fi equivalent. However, along the way, the computer operating the spacecraft struggles with conflicting orders and malfunctions. Soon after, an expedition is sent to Jupiter where another monolith has been detected.
Then, fast forward a few millennia and an identical and equally as mysterious black monolith is discovered buried on the Moon.
We learn that unbeknownst to.well, anyone, a mysterious black monolith once stood on the surface of early Earth.
